Whenever you think of weight loss, and the best exercises to lose weight, you usually think of walking, aerobics, jogging and swimming. However in reality, these exercises need not be considered the best weight loss exercises.
This is because it is not necessary that you lose weight only by walking on the treadmill for an hour everyday or by running a few miles. The best exercise you can do is something that you love doing, and which you are sure you can do for half an hour or so everyday. Of course, in addition to this, the activity should be something that gets you sweating at least for some time.
This means you can't consider watching TV or reading. However if you play golf, instead of taking a golf cart along with you, your hauling your golf clubs throughout the 18 holes will bring up sufficient sweat as any workout will.
If you have kids, why not play with them for an hour everyday. Not only will they enjoy it, you benefit by burning calories while you all spend some quality time with each other. Play catching or football as a cardio vascular exercise and piggyback for strength training.

The chores you detest doing like gardening, house cleaning and yard work look more inviting if you consider the fact that they help you lose weight. Even walking to the supermarket with your friend, instead of taking the car helps in breaking a sweat, and in burning calories.
The basic thing to remember is that you just have to keep active for a minimum of an hour per day to burn calories and lose weight. It's just that instead of forcing yourself to go to the gym or jogging around the jogging track, its better doing something you love doing. You not only enjoy the activity, but find you lose weight faster this way too.
